Brightness is only one part of visibility

Outdoor LCD brightness is measured in nits. A high-brightness panel provides the light output needed to compete with daylight, but reflected light can still reduce contrast. Anti-reflection glass and optical bonding help preserve contrast by reducing reflections between the LCD, protective glass and surrounding air gaps.

Specify for the actual location

A sheltered timetable display and a south-facing street totem experience very different conditions. The specification should consider direct sunlight, viewing distance, portrait or landscape orientation, surrounding reflections, operating temperature and whether the display must remain readable through sunglasses.

Why automatic brightness control matters

Running at maximum brightness throughout the night wastes energy and can make a screen uncomfortable to view. An ambient-light sensor allows the display to reduce output in darker conditions and increase it in daylight. The control system should be tuned for stable transitions rather than reacting to every brief shadow.

The AD Series approach

AD Series outdoor industrial LCD modules are available with 3500+ nit brightness, anti-reflection treatment, optical bonding and automatic brightness control. These elements are combined with IP67 sealing, passive thermal design and remote diagnostics for continuous outdoor use.
